Upcoming French Review

Hello Parents,

With over 90,000 students in Core French and another 28,000 students in French Immersion/Extended French programs come system successes and challenges. We are proud of the Board’s successes in retention rate, inclusion of students with special education needs as well as accessibility and transportation. At the same time, challenges include multiple entry points, equity of access, and transportation.

As part of the Director’s Response to the Enhanced Equity Task Force Report, a review of all French Programs will begin in Spring 2018. In collaboration with the TDSB Research Department, this review will focus on the current status of all French Programs, including the structure, content of the teaching and learning, and policies and procedures related to French. We look forward to receiving feedback about the successes and challenges of the various French Programs through face-to-face consultation with parents/guardians, Trustees, staff, students and community members and an online survey (available soon!).

French Program Consultation – Presentation

You are invited to join any of the consultation meetings available throughout May 2018. All meetings will be led by TDSB staff and held in the school cafeteria from 7 to 9 p.m.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ?

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Mill Valley Junior School 2018 FUN FAIR will be held on Thursday 31st May!

As you know this is a great end of year event that students get very excited about.

All proceeds from the Fun Fair go directly back into our school which benefits all of our children!

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ?

  1.  Donate NEW toys for raffle prizes ! Please drop off in the office – for every toy brought in you will receive a free raffle ticket that can be used on the night of the Fun Fair to win a prize. The more toys and games we receive the more each child has chance of winning a prize.
  2. Help us collect prizes that we can raffle – do you work for a company that would provide prizes, services (i.e., spa vouchers, manicures, etc. ) tickets ( i.e., Blue Jays, Raptors etc.) , gift cards (i.e., grocery shopping/ clothing stores , bowling, play gym etc.). The items will be available to be won on the night of the Fun Fair – again providing profit for the school and enhancements for our students.
  3. VOLUNTEER to help on the night! Can you give us half an hour on the night to help run a game or food stand? Do you do Face painting / air brush tattoos etc – we could use your help!  We really need lots of parents to help on the night to ensure that we all get time to enjoy the fun fair with our children.
  4. Donate juice boxes, bottles of water and drinks that we can sell. Please bring these to school after May 1 st and we will store them until the Fun Fair.
  5. Donate a cake/cookies or cupcakes for the Cake Walk Game – think Musical Chairs, with a sweet treat reward to the winners! Always a popular game at the Fun Fair! Please let us know if you would like to donate for the cake walk – cakes can be brought on the day of the Fair.

The planning meetings for the Fun Fair are held at 6 pm in the school library on the following dates-
